Humour – ho ho ho!
Having a sense of humour; one of the essentials to life I reckon. There’s little I enjoy more having a good old tee-hee-hee at something or other, and when I have a spare moment I like to sit down and come up with a few cartoons (see below), or cartoon strips (see much further below) to unsuccessfully tout to magazines, syndicates, and newspapers around the world.
My sense of humour is legendary. Alas, the same cannot be said for my cartoons.
If it’s any consolation, my strip cartoons are equally poor.
Horse Feathers – Strip cartoon
In 2009, Amazon launched a competition to find a new comic strip to syndicate around the world. This was my entry. I got surprisingly far, i.e. wasn’t knocked out in the first round, but alas, never made it into the top ten. “Sigh”. The world’s a sadder place because of it.
I love gothic stuff, and love bright colour. The two don’t generally meet when it comes to art, so I though it high time to re-address the balance, and created a greeting card series called “Diddly Nightshade” featuring a delightful cast of weird and wonderful characters, with all the associated cthulhu and suchlike accoutrements.
Seagull cartoons based on Brighton’s winged vermin.
Having lived in Brighton for many years, I can attest to how villainous these little scamps are. In celebration of their whimsical take on life, personal effects, property, and the unaware’s sandwiches, I designed a series of greeting card images featuring the rascals.
